PlayStation VR Just Got Cheaper

By Robert Marrujo:: If you've been holding out on buying Sony's PlayStation VR in hopes of a price drop, rejoice, as your patience has been rewarded. The cost to buy is going be reduced on September 1 in the form of a $50 markdown on the current price of $499. The bundle will now retail for $449.99 and comes with the following:

  • PlayStation VR Headset
  • Two Move Controllers
  • PlayStation VR Worlds
  • Camera

The move comes in the wake of some very aggressive price-cutting by Sony VR competitors HTC and Oculus. HTC Vive was recently reduced to $599 from its original $799 asking price, while Oculus Rift is currently offering a temporary price cut of $399 from its old $599 MSRP. At $449.99, Sony is offering the most VR bang for buck, coming with a full compliment of hardware as well as a game to play.

Choosing not to rest on its laurels, Sony is taking things a step further by also launching a $399 PS VR bundle on the same day that comes with:

  • PlayStation VR Headset
  • Camera

It's a more modest bundle, but for players already in possession of Move controllers it might just prove to be the tipping point to get them onboard with the VR movement. Do any of these deals interest you? What are your thoughts on VR? Share with us on our Twitter and Facebook feeds!
