By Robert Marrujo:: The original Xbox One has gone the way of the dodo bird. The formerly $499 behemoth that launched back in 2013 has not only officially ceased to be manufactured, but it's also not being sold any longer, either. In a chat with Glixel, a Microsoft spokesperson revealed the news, stating "As is typical for the console industry, we stopped manufacturing the original Xbox One when we introduced Xbox One S."
Though production of the original Xbox was halted back in August of 2016 when the Xbox One S was introduced, it wasn't until this past month that what was left of the progenitor's stock finally began to dwindle away to nothing. This is reflected in Microsoft's own inventory, as the official store is also no longer offering the original model.
Ironically, Xbox One X is coming to market this November with that original Xbox One price tag of $499, albeit this time sans Kinect and plus a massive increase to horsepower. Let us know what you think of this move on our Twitter and Facebook feeds!
