UPDATE:: Aaaaannnddddd there you have it. Capcom has officially announced that Okami HD will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on December 12!
By Robert Marrujo:: Back in the day Capcom had a renowned development studio under its wing by the name of Clover Studio. Clover, helmed by legendary director Hideki Kamiya, produced a ton of cool games like Viewtiful Joe and Okami over the course of the team's tenure before being disbanded. That latter game is currently the subject of a juicy rumor at the moment, namely that the HD version will be coming soon to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The latest log tossed onto the fire comes in the form of word that a rating for Okami HD has been granted a rating by the Korean equivalent of the ESRB, according to Gematsu. Generally once these ratings get slipped through an official announcement isn't far behind, so it's likely not going to be all that long from now that Capcom might be making this news official.
Okami is an action/adventure game that takes inspiration from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series. It boasts gorgeous, watercolor-style graphics that pull heavily from classic Japanese paintings and wood block carvings. The narrative is also influenced by Japanese folklore and theology. It's a massively cool game; even if this re-rerelease doesn't happen, there are a ton of ways to experience Okami, from PlayStation 2 to Wii to PlayStation 3. Definitely give it a shot!
We'll update if word hits that Okami HD is announced for the current gens slate of consoles, so keep it posted to Binx.News!
