Also brings the much requested ability to transfer save and user data between consoles!
By Robert Marrujo:: The latest firmware update to Nintendo Switch, labeled 4.0.0, has brought with it a ton of new and welcome functionality. Here's the official word from Nintendo about what users can expect once their console updates:
- Video capture for select games
- New profile icons featuring characters from the Super Mario Odyssey™ game and The Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild game
- Transfer user profiles and save data to another system
- Pre-purchase option is available for certain games on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has a support site that offers even greater detail as to the nature of the update and all it entails.
The addition of video capture is great, but it's a shame that it's so limited. Perhaps Nintendo is feeling out how much users will take advantage of the feature. It would be delightful if in a future update the feature is expanded upon. Being able to transfer save data and profiles, however, is long overdue and a nice thing to see. With the potential for future hardware variations or even damage to an existing Switch, this sort of functionality is a must in this day and age.
