Cue the angry mob in 3, 2, 1...
By Robert Marrujo:: What's better than spending $59.99 on a new video game? Looking forward to spending $49.99 on Loot Crates in the thing! That's what Ubisoft is banking on for its upcoming Assassin's Creed Origins, as the title will offer microtransactions right out of the gates.
The in-game Helix Currency is making a comeback and can be purchased using real world money. As noted on retailer GameStop's listing for the title, the aforementioned $49.99 seems to be the cap for how much cash a player can plunk down at a time on the Origins' microtransactions.
The topic of Loot Crates and microtransactions have been hotly debated for a while now, with many fans not enjoying being nickel and dimed to death for a multitude of in-game purchases. While not every title demands extra money be spent to have fun with them, there are times when the option to lean on microtransactions to increase a player's enjoyment is almost necessary to avoid hefty weight times and/or exorbitant grinding. It's this rock and a hard place propositioning which has many folks quite rankled.
Where do you fall on the topic of microtransactions? Tell us in the comments!
