Spoilers ahead for the milestone issue!
By Robert Marrujo:: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit a major publishing milestone in August of this year when the series released its 73rd issue. That might sound like an unusual number, but it's historically significant for the TMNT franchise as no other comic featuring the four brothers has ever gone beyond issue 72. With this week's #75, the IDW TMNT comic is on a roll, continuing to knock out some stellar stories starring everyone's favorite quartet. CBR got the chance to talk to Ninja Turtles co-creator and current co-writer Kevin Eastman about what the future has in store for the series.
First off, there was a major change to the status quo in #75 with the demise of general Krang. The character has been around since the series was relaunched back in 2011. Needless to say, the death came out of left field and shocked many a reader. Still, this is a comic book, right? What are the odds Krang stays dead? "This could be an end… or just a twisted new beginning. You’ll have to stick around to find out," was all Eastman would spill on what's coming for the turtles after issue #75.
Beyond Krang, however, the team will be pairing up with the Ghostbusters for a special event series that runs weekly starting on November 1 and will be five issues long. After that, Eastman says "it’s back to the TMNT’s NYC to deal with an 'Invasion of the Triceratons.'" Big things are afoot for heroes in a half-shell and we'll keep you posted as their adventures continue to develop.
