By Robert Marrujo:: Fans might be a bit more trepidatious about Disney's Star Wars films in the wake of the polarizing Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but that's not stopping the company from forging ahead with multiple new projects based on the franchise. Word is coming from The Hollywood Reporter that Disney head Bob Iger, during an earnings call, declared that multiple Star Wars television shows are being kicked around.
"We are developing not just one, but a few Star Wars series specifically for the Disney direct-to-consumer app. We've mentioned that and we are close to being able to reveal at least one of the entities that is developing that for us. Because the deal isn't completely closed, we can't be specific about that," Iger said during the call. "I think you'll find the level of talent … on the television front will be rather significant as well."
The "direct-to-consumer app" mentioned by Iger is slated for 2019, meaning fans can expect to see the shows no sooner than Disney's launch of the service. Iger didn't specify any details about the shows, but there's certainly an entire galaxy's worth of possibilities from which Disney can mine material. Are you excited to hear this?
