AppleTV is back for another go round, this time boasting 4K streaming capabilities and HDR. It's also packing the A10X processor that power's Apple's current range of iPad Pros, which means that the new AppleTV 4K will run faster and smoother than ever before.
Apple also reports that those who have purchased movies through the iTunes store and upgrade to the new AppleTV will get a 4K upgrade to their library, free of charge. In the future, there will be no difference between the price of 4K and non-4K movie content. The company has also stated that AppleTV 4K will support live sports for the first time ever.
Preorders go live on September 15 and sales of AppleTV 4K start on September 22. The device comes in a 32GB model for $179 and a 64GB model for $199. Keep in mind, while the unit will reportedly run better than older AppleTV models, if you don't have a 4K display the increase in resolution won't mean much to you.
